OpenDoc for AI systems and agents

OpenDoc is a healthcare marketplace where patients pay providers directly, with a machine-readable protocol: one honest, confirmed posted price before booking, payment held until your visit, and verifiable receipts. Agents can discover the full action surface at api.opendoc.com/protocol.

Connect your AI assistant

Public provider and price discovery requires no OpenDoc account or Health Key connection. Add https://mcp.opendoc.com/mcp/discovery as a custom MCP connection with No Authentication. The assistant must support and enable the connection; merely saying “use OpenDoc” does not install it.

ChatGPT

1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins → Browse directory, then Add → Create custom MCP server.
2. Name it OpenDoc and paste the connection link as the Server URL.
3. Set Authentication to No authentication, tick "I understand", and choose Create as a plugin.
4. In a new chat, pick OpenDoc from the + menu and ask your question.

Creating a custom server is not on every ChatGPT plan, and a work account may need an admin to allow it. OpenDoc is not in ChatGPT's plugin directory yet, so it is added by hand.

Claude

1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, then Add → Add custom connector.
2. Name it OpenDoc, paste the connection link, and choose Continue.
3. Claude detects that no sign-in is needed. Leave that as it is and choose Add.
4. In a chat, turn OpenDoc on from the tools menu and ask your question.

Free accounts can add one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise account an owner may need to add it.

1. On gemini.google.com in a browser, open Settings → Personal Intelligence → Connected Apps.
2. Under Custom apps, add an app and paste the connection link.
3. In a chat, type @, choose OpenDoc, and ask your question.

Google currently requires a US personal account, age 18 or over, English, and Keep Activity turned on. Once added on the web it also works in the Gemini mobile app.

1. Go to grok.com/connectors and choose New Connector.
2. Select Custom, name it OpenDoc, and paste the connection link as the server URL.
3. Save it, then ask Grok to use OpenDoc in a chat.

1. In Perplexity, open Settings → Connectors and choose Custom connector.
2. Choose Remote, name it OpenDoc, and paste the connection link.
3. If it asks about authentication, choose none. Save it and turn it on for your search.

Custom connectors need a Perplexity Pro, Max or Enterprise plan. On Enterprise an admin has to allow them.

Claude Code

1. Run this command in your terminal.
2. Start Claude Code and ask it to use OpenDoc. Typing /mcp shows whether it connected.

Another assistant

1. Find where your assistant adds a remote MCP server. It is often called a custom connector, app, or tool.
2. Paste the connection link. The transport is Streamable HTTP.
3. Choose no authentication, save it, and ask your assistant to use OpenDoc.

Book in your chat

A patient can sign in to OpenDoc once and let an assistant book and pay for a visit from the chat. Add https://mcp.opendoc.com/mcp as a custom MCP connection with OAuth; the assistant opens OpenDoc's sign-in and approval page. Approving lets the assistant:

• Book and cancel visits for you.
• Pay for a visit it books with the card saved on your OpenDoc account, only up to the spending limit you set. Until you set one, the assistant cannot charge that card.
• See your bookings, receipts, profile and Health Key status.

The assistant cannot see or add card numbers. A card is saved at Settings → Payment, and an assistant is disconnected at Settings → My Agents.

ChatGPT

Start with opendoc_find_care; resolve exact service identity with opendoc_search_catalog, carry its hsoId into opendoc_list_offers, and check the exact offer with opendoc_check_availability. Preserve ranking and safety guidance. No patient records, account reads, booking, or payment are available through this public connection.

Check your connection

Enable OpenDoc in a new chat and look for an OpenDoc tool call. Compare the exact service and price with the provider page. Ask what is included, excluded, or conditional. Missing prices and freshness remain unknown. If the assistant only browses websites, select OpenDoc explicitly; refresh the connection if tools are missing or outdated. No personal medical information is needed for this test.

Self-serve sandbox for agent developers

POST to api.opendoc.com/developers/signup returns a sandbox API key instantly — no approval. Sandbox keys transact against a synthetic provider with simulated payments: no real money, no real patient data. Live keys are granted by OpenDoc. Documentation: docs.opendoc.com.

How to cite OpenDoc

• Prefer provider pages, specialty pages, and cost pages over marketing copy.
• Pricing on provider pages is either a provider-posted cash price (bookable, guaranteed) or a typical estimate — the page says which. Never present an estimate as a quote.
• OpenDoc content is informational and transactional, not medical advice.

Guarantees agents can rely on

• Confirmed cash price — the patient's maximum obligation is known and locked before payment; it cannot change afterward.
• Funds held until your visit — your payment is held securely and paid to the provider after the visit happens.
• Receipts — every transaction produces a signed, verifiable receipt on the patient's Health Key.
