Dr. Lourie is a graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine where he served as resident and chief resident in orthopedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. After this, he completed a traveling preceptorship in Europe specializing in wrist surgery under the guidance of William B. Kleinman, M.D. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification for Surgery of the Hand. He currently serves as Co-Chief for the Division of Hand Surgery at the Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, where he was recently named Clinical Instructor of the Year. He also is a clinical assistant professor at the Emory School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics. In addition, he serves as a clinician in pediatric orthopedics at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Scottish Rite campus. Dr. Lourie has served as president of the Georgia Society for Surgery of the Hand and currently is chairman of the Piedmont Orthopedic Foundation at Duke University, directing research grant awards. He has been named to the Atlanta Top Doctor list for hand surgery and recently was honored by acceptance to the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) in recognition of his contributions to orthopedic surgery. He is very active in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and has published close to 100 articles and book chapters. Dr. Lourie is a consultant for Auburn University, Western Carolina University, Georgia Southern, and Georgia State University.
